Exhibits

The art center allows for featured monthly exhibits in four display spaces.

Invitational Gallery
The Arehart-Cabell Invitational Gallery is the largest exhibit space at SVAC. With long straight walls, copious amounts of natural light, movable freestanding walls, and amazing gallery lighting; this space brings out the best in all the exhibits.

Exhibits in the Invitational Gallery are scheduled on an annual basis by application and invitation. This space is intended to showcase works of the highest quality including individual artists, group exhibits, and competitive juried exhibitions.

To apply for an exhibit in the Invitational Gallery please send an inquiry to Exhibits Director Pamela Martin at svacexhibit@gmail.com

Member’s Gallery
The Member’s Gallery is designed to showcase the work of our many talented member artists. There is a theme most months that work should be centered around. The themes are open to interpretation and in the past have included RED, GREEN, FIGURES, LANDSCAPES, and more. We encourage creative interpretation! For more information about hanging in the Member’s Gallery, please check out the For Members page on this site.

Hallway Gallery
The Hallway Gallery is our place to highlight local art groups and SVAC programs. Groups such as the Rockbridge Arts Guild, The Piedmont Pastelists, and the Central Virginia Woodturner’s Guild have annual exhibits in the Hallways. SVAC Studio Artists, Waynesboro Public School exhibits, and The Paletteers have also enjoyed exhibiting in the space. This is an invitation-only space, but if you know of a group that we should feature, please let Pamela Martin know: svacexhibit@gmail.com

Gift Shop
The Gift Shop at SVAC is in the front room and features an SVAC member artist each month. This is an opportunity for artists who normally exhibit their work in group settings to have a low-pressure mini-exhibit of their own works. It is also a perk for being a volunteer at SVAC- docents and committee members get first dibs on the space! This space is hung on the same schedule as the other galleries, but the artist is required to hang the show (we’ll help!) and to make price tags.

The Gift Shop at SVAC has a variety of artisan goods including jewelry, wood, glass, pottery, and more. For information on selling your wares in the gift shop please call Piper at SVAC: 540-949-7662.
